What is the Kids' Discovery Club?
Kids (of all ages!) can visit KDC sites around Animal Kingdom to do activities led by a Conservation Education Presenter and learn more about animals and conservation. When they complete their first activity, they'll receive a Kids' Discovery Club stamp card and a stamp for playing their first game. They can take that card all around the park with them and collect a different stamp at each KDC. There are 6 KDCs in all - if they get all 6 stamps, they'll get the special Rafiki Ya Wanyama stamp and they can take the Kids' Discovery Club pledge too!
Where are the KDC sites?
There is one in each land of the park:
- Africa
- Dinoland
- Camp Minnie Mickey
- Discovery Island
- Rafiki's Planet Watch
- Asia
How can I find each KDC?
Look for the red "K" symbol on your park map to find the KDC in each land. As you get closer, keep your eyes open for a circular sign with the KDC logo:
As you get even closer, look for someone dressed in a red shirt and a khaki vest:
You've found a Conservation Education Presenter (in this case, you've found me in Asia!), and they'll be happy to do the KDC activity with you and give you a stamp!
What time are the KDCs open?
The KDCs are usually open from 10am to 5pm, with special hours at certain times of the year. You can ask Guest Relations or any Conservation Education Presenter for the KDC hours on the day of your visit. How much do the KDC activities cost?
Absolutely nothing! The games are free, the stamp cards are free, the stamps are free... It's just a fun activity that anyone of any age can try.
Where do I get my special Rafiki Ya Wanyama stamp?
Good news - any of the 6 KDCs can give you your special stamp! No separate trip required! When you get to your 6th and final KDC site, the Presenter there will take care of everything for you.
What happens if I can't get to all the KDCs in one day?
No worries! Your stamp card never expires. You can bring it back another day or even another year to complete it. What if I can't bring the card back/won't be returning/etc.?
Just talk to one of the Presenters. We'll have some suggestions to help you out.
I hope this was some useful information! If you have any questions about the Kids' Discovery Club (or anything else), feel free to leave me a comment here or ask me on formspring. :)
