Professional Internship Info

Creative post title, I know.

I'm finally starting to feel better. And it's finally starting to fully sink in that I got a PI, I got the one I really wanted, and I'll be staying with the Company till June! All very good news!

I got an email earlier in the week saying I needed to schedule one more fifteen minute interview for the PI I interviewed for a few weeks ago. I scheduled it for Wednesday morning and got the call right on time. The very sweet interviewer asked me some typical questions (can I comply with the Disney Look, do I have my own transportation, etc.) and then told me the real reason she was calling - she was offering me a position as an Animal Programs Conservation Education Presenter!! I accepted so fast, she laughed and said she could tell I was very excited to get it.

And I am! Way back before I even applied to the College Program, I was looking into PIs and trying to decide which ones I would be most qualified for. I found the Conservation Education Presenter PI and I knew it would be a perfect fit! For this PI I'll be working at the Kids Discovery Clubs at Animal Kingdom, teaching kids and families about the importance of conservation and how they can make conservation efforts in their own backyards.

I love education and have had quite a bit of experience with it working at museums and such, and conservation is a topic that I'm passionate about. My anthropology degree even complements this PI - I took classes in environmental anthropology, which dealt with how people around the world perceive of and interact with the environment around them. I just feel like the stars are aligning and I'm finding the path that I'm meant to take here at Disney. It feels great. :)

I'll keep working at Kilimanjaro Safaris till the end of my CP on January 7, then my PI starts January 11 and goes till the middle of June. I requested housing through Disney for the PI - it's first come first serve, so hopefully I'll get in.

I'm really trying to make the most of my time left on the CP. I finally managed to get into one of the Haunted Mansion tours - and seriously, it is the BEST tour you will ever take. If you ever get the chance to do it, DO IT!!! I even want to go back and do it a second time!

I missed yet another Cast Preview - this time it was the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party parade preview. I missed the Boyz II Men and Hanson concerts at the Food & Wine Festival too. All of that was going on while I was sick... germs have terrible timing! I did get to see this year's first run of Mickey's Jingle Jungle Parade at AK yesterday though! I've never seen it before - it's really cute! Definitely try and go see it! :)

Brian and I are hoping to go to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party together soon. We just celebrated his birthday a few weeks ago by going to Port Orleans Riverside, having dinner at Boatwrights, and then renting Sea Raycer boats at the Polynesian the next morning. It was great! Hopefully our mini vacation for MVMCP will be just as nice!

Tomorrow they're having a Thanksgiving dinner for all us CPers here at Patterson. I'm definitely going! I've been craving some holiday food since all the Christmas decorations started coming out at the parks. I hear Earl of Sandwich has a pretty awesome holiday sandwich... I'm going to have to check that out too! Food review to follow... ;)
