You really should get in the habit of looking for information - both about the PIs and other opportunities - on your own. Usually people are not going to come to you with offers. You'll need to be searching things out on your own and then ask around to see if anyone else can help you get to where you want to be.
For PIs specifically, I got plenty of reminders about PI deadlines. It was posted on the Disney Interns site (www.disneyinterns.com), it was in emails sent out by the CP, all the CPers were talking about it... so you'll hear about them.
My suggestion to make sure you apply on time is to be proactive! If you know you want to apply for PIs, talk to your managers early and keep your eyes and ears open for news about them. If you're doing that, you should have no problem finding out about the deadlines.

Keep the questions coming!
