What do you think gave you the edge getting your PI? What was your GPA and what kind of experience did you have on your resume?
I have been wondering the same thing, actually.
It seems like PIs were very, very competitive this year and I am so grateful to have been offered one. But naturally I have been wondering what they saw as my "edge". For my PI I know they were looking for science or education backgrounds, but I'm wondering if maybe my different sort of science/education background made me stand out. My degree is in anthropology (technically a science, although more of a soft science) which deals with all kinds of topics from cultures to the environment to archaeology to primates. And my education experience is all outside of classrooms: museums, summer camps, etc. Maybe they thought all of this would be something unique I could bring to the PI team?
My GPA was 4.0. For experience, I listed all the education work I had done with all different age groups and through all different media. I also listed my CP at Kilimanjaro Safaris.
Keep the questions coming!
